A few days ago I had my very first private Skype session with Paula, which was very helpful because it was the first time and chance to speak to my tutor and she actually made the Module 1 so much clearer to me than it was.
I told Paula that I still was a bit insecure and unclear about the whole Module, so she tried and explain it to me. She said that basically the Module 1 is about technology, how to use it correctly and how to communicate through the web.
We also spoke about the statement "Everyone needs to be online!".
I said that I think it is a very big theme to talk about but I see it in two different ways. On the one hand I think it's very good to be online because you can stay in contact with anyone you would like to and it doesn't matter where those people are. On the other hand though I think we all need to be a bit more careful what we post, share or publish in the world wide web. I think we still need to have our personal details or personal information what we shouldn't put online because it's private!
And I think private things shouldn't be put into the internet because it can be very dangerous and it could fall into the wrong hands.
What I also discussed with Paula was 'googling' ourself is very scary. When I did that I was a bit shocked because I didn't know that I can find so many pictures and information about myself. :-O
"Will pictures and/or details/information stay in the internet??" Paula had a really good statement to that, which was "No one knows!" Which I think is very true because we don't really know what will happend with all the things we've uploaded or posted.
We also talked about reading through other people's blogs can be very good and inspiring because you can get new ideas and thoughts!
Once again I am very thankful that I had the chance to skype with Paula because now I am a bit more clearer about the Module 1. :)

Task 1b: Professional communication technologies
This is a very good quote from Erik Qualman to start with.
Nowadays I think we need to be very careful what we "post", "share" or "put" into the world wide web because it stays in there and if we post negative things about other people it is very easy to get into troubles.
I have learned from my mistakes; I think it was about 5 or 6 years ago when I first registered on facebook. It was all very new to me and I kind of wanted some attention, so I posted nearly everything I did. Big mistake!! When I now read back, I'm a bit embarrassed about myself. Was I so naive?
However, on the other hand I think I was still very young and I shouldn't have been on facebook that early. But when you see the 'kids' nowadays what they post, it's kind of what I did a few years ago.
Web 2.0 ... I had never heard of it before until I read through the "Reader 1" handbook.
It basically means that Web 2.0 is a more modern format which allows users to interact and collaborate with each other.
Most common websites nowadays are Facebook, Twitter, Google or online blogs.
I've made two mind maps about "Social Media". One map is about the positive things and the other one is about the negative things.
That's my positive one:
And that's the negative one:
If you have things to add you are more than welcome to leave a comment :)
What I would like to add to "Social Media" is, especially from my professional point of view, I think that I couldn't even get a job without the internet. I have two professional apps on my phone, which are called "Stage Jobs" and "StagePool" and I wouldn't even know what auditions are on without those apps. I am more than thankful to have them.
Or for example in Facebook, i have joined a group called "The Hustle", where people/choreographers/directors write information about different auditions or job possibilities.
My conclusion is that I think social media nowadays is so important, whether to find a job, stay in contact with someone or research anything you need.
However, on the other hand you need to be very careful what information you put into the world wide web because it will probably stay in there forever.
But I am very pleased that social media/internet has developed itself how it is now.

Task 1a: Professional Profile
When I read this task in the handbook I personally thought it's a very important task, especially in my point of view.
Every performer should have a great CV and headshot, which presents themselves very well.
I think it was two years ago when my acting and "IPS" teacher said we have to write a CV. First of all I was a bit confused because I didn't really know what I could write about myself. But after a few lessons my mind was a bit clearer and I already had some ideas.

Everybody, please see my CV :)
You probably think now, why do I call myself "Linda Planitz"?! Well I've actually got a quite simple answer to that ;) For some people it's quite hard to pronounce my surname (Schuetzenhofer), so I thought I have to have a stage name, so people can actually say my name haha. It took me quite a long time to have the 'perfect' stage name.
Because I'm not English I thought I still need to have a 'foreign' surname, and then I came to my mum's maiden name: 'Planitz', which I think is quite easy to pronounce. Tada! My stage name! :)
Last year I went to London to get my professional headshots done. The photographer was Simon Mayhew. He is a very friendly and professional photographer and agent. I definitely recommend him.
